- Meeting every week on Wednesday for approximately half an hour
4. Purpose of the Organization
- The goal of Latin club is to promote an understanding for the Latin language and its influence on modern-day English vocabulary. In addition, this club will attempt to teach aspects of the ancient Roman culture, especially the myths. Finally, the club intends to increase appreciation for classical art, literature, and architecture with presentations and field trips.
5. Title of Officers
- President- Conducts meetings and plans agenda/events
- Vice President- Conducts meetings and plans agenda/events
- Secretary- Handles attendance and forms
- Treasurer- Plans fundraisers, controls finances for trips, makes announcements
6. Officer Selection Process
- There is an annual election that occurs at the end of each year. Incumbent board members can choose to be voted on first, with majority vote securing them the position. The vote will be conducted with a heads-down-hands-up voting procedure, with the advisor and officers not running for reelection counting the votes. Candidates can make a short speech before leaving the room during voting procedure. All candidates must have taken at least one year of Latin.
7. Membership Eligibility
- All students can be part of Latin club, whether or not they have taken Latin in the past. However, they may not run for an officer position unless they have taken at least one year of Latin.
8. Finances
- Student payment and fundraising will be the source of money for events and trips.
9. Approved Spending
- Appropriate proposals for spending on activities, i.e. trips, will be presented to the administration for review.
10. Financial Record Keeping
- The treasurer will keep a record of club finances. In addition, forms for fundraisers, student payments, and expenditures will be provided to the office for the purposes of record keeping.
11. Funds on Hand in June
- Funds on hand will be allocated to the subsequent years’ activities.
12. Articles
- Club members will conduct activities on a weekly basis to augment students’ understanding of the Latin language. This may take place during Latin Club meetings or as an activity for the entire school.
